The First General Assembly of Saudi Olympians Association

With the help of Allah Almighty, on Saturday, 4 Rabi' Al-Thani 1444 AH, corresponding to October 29, 2022 CE, the Saudi Olympians Association held its first Ordinary General Assembly (Founding) meeting. The meeting was attended by His Highness Prince Fahd bin Julai' bin Abdulaziz bin Mosaad, Deputy Chairman of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, and the Secretary-General, as well as Ms. Jovina Shaw, Development Manager for the International Olympians Association for the Asian continent. It was also attended by 108 Saudi Olympians (members of the General Assembly).

The meeting began with a welcome from the Chairman of the Board of Directors to His Highness the Vice President of the Saudi Olympic Committee - Secretary-General, the delegates of the International Association of Olympians, and the members of the General Assembly, thanking them for their presence. He also expressed sincere thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince for the unlimited support they provided. The sports sector enjoys it. He also thanked His Royal Highness the Minister of Sports, President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, and His Highness his Deputy for the work they are doing to achieve the vision of the wise leadership to advance the sports sector in a way that serves the nation’s youth and sports.

The assembly began with verses from the Holy Quran followed by a speech. Statement by His Highness the Deputy President of the Saudi Olympic Committee.

His Highness the Deputy Chairman of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee welcomed in his speech the Saudi Olympians who have proudly represented the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since the 1972 Munich Olympics. He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince for their unprecedented support to the sports sector in the Kingdom. His Highness discussed the establishment of the Saudi Olympians Association, its sports and societal roles, the responsibilities of Olympians, and their new journey in commemorating these memories and creating a sustainable legacy to inspire future generations.

In any official documents, before their names, and in any official or social media, and the method of registration and athletes obtaining a certificate from the International Olympic Association.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors gave an introductory presentation on the tasks and role of the Association by gathering and unifying Saudi Olympic players together and encouraging them to use their position and transfer their experience and knowledge to promote Olympic ideals and inspire the future generation, and contribute to further developing sports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, so that the Association has a developmental role, community participation, and cooperation with... National and international bodies and organizations.

The meeting also presented the members of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Olympic Players Association, for the current session from 2020 to 2024 for a period of 4 years, which consists of:

In conclusion, His Highness, Vice President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, honored the Saudi Olympic players for representing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, and handed over certificates and Olympic recognition “OLY” badges to their recipients.
