Wijdan Ali Siraj Al-Din Shahrkhani (born in Mecca) is a Saudi judoka, specializing in over 78 kg. Her name was included by the Saudi Olympic Committee in the delegation participating in the 2012 London Olympics, and after controversy over her participation in the hijab, she was one of two women chosen to represent the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the 2012 Summer Olympics. Wejdan’s inclusion in the matches came after pressure from the International Olympic Committee The Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee needs to include women in their team. The Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee imposed special rules regarding how Wijdan should conduct herself while representing Saudi Arabia in the 2012 Olympic Games. At the time of competition, she had only achieved a blue belt after practicing judo for only two years.
