About the player
Mukhtar Ali is a Saudi football player of Somali origin who plays in the midfield position with Al-Tai Club, loaned from Al-Nasr Club in the Saudi Professional League and the Saudi national football team.
In 2008, Ali joined Chelsea Under-11s from Leyton Orient. He was part of the Chelsea Youth Club that won the FA Youth Cup in 2015 and 2016. He played 42 matches in all competitions and was the second best goalscorer in the academy, and was also nominated for the Somalia Sportsman of the Year award.
On 29 January 2017, Ali joined Vitesse on loan for the remainder of the 2016–17 season. On 19 February 2017, he played for the first time for Vitesse in a 1–0 defeat against Ajax Amsterdam, and came on as a substitute for Marvelous Nakamba in the 84th minute. On 4 February 2017, he played his first match for Jong Vitesse against Spakenborg. Mukhtar played five more league matches during his loan period.
On 17 July 2017, he signed with Vitesse Arnhem on a three-year deal.
He moved to Al-Nasr Club in the summer of 2019 and was loaned to Al-Taei Club in early 2022.
