Born on June 17, 1997, Donya Abu Taleb is a Saudi taekwondo athlete who broke barriers and proved that ambition knows no bounds. She began her taekwondo journey at the age of eight with the support of her father, at a time when women's sports still faced significant challenges in the Kingdom. She became the first Saudi woman to qualify for the Olympic Games directly, a historic achievement that reflects the new direction of Saudi women's sports and the courage of young Saudi women. In her first Olympic participation, the Saudi athlete proudly and honorably carried the Kingdom’s flag at the opening ceremony, leaving her mark on the world stage.
She participated in the under 49 kg weight category in Taekwondo competitions, and achieved a remarkable victory in the round of 16 against a player who was a former Olympic medalist, which brought renewed attention to the level of Saudi women’s sports.
