The Saudi Athletics Federation was established in 1963 and was named as the Saudi Arab Athletics Association” and officially joined the International Athletics Federation in the same year. the Saudi Arab Athletics Association joined the Asian Athletics Federation as well in 1976 and the Arab Athletics Federation in 1975. The association was also a co-founder of the Organizational Committee of the GCC countries in 1985.
The Saudi Archery Federation is the sole official Archery organization in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, recognized by the Ministry of Sport and the Saudi Olympic & Paralympic Committee. The Federation was established in 1990 as a subdivision of the Shooting Federation. In 2013, the Saudi Archery Federation was attached to the Equestrian Federation before it became independent in 2016 and was responsible for archery activities in the Kingdom.
Since the birth of the Saudi Shooting Federation, many achievements have been brought home through the sport of shooting throughout the history of the federation. Those achievements were absolutely owed to the hard work and the effort spent by the federation to witness the development of sport in the Kingdom. Furthermore, this development is also owed to the continuous support of HRH Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al-Faisal, the Minister of Sport and the President of The Saudi Olympic & Paralympic Committee, and the current president of the Federation.
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation is the sole sponsor of the sport of Football in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the direct responsible of national football teams and participating national clubs in the Saudi League in all its divisions.
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation was officially founded in 1956. In the same year, it became a member of the International Football Federation (FIFA). Additionally, in 1972, it joined the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The Saudi Cycling Federation was established in 1963 as an organization aiming at spreading the sport of Cycling to all regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The purpose of establishing this federation was also to support and improve national sports clubs and bring up a skilled set of Cycling athletes to participate and compete at national and international competitions.
The Federation is the sole sponsor of the sport of Taekwondo in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The federation was founded in 1976 and chaired currently by Mr. Shaddad Alamri. The federation, upon its establishment, was named as the Taekwondo, Karate, and Judo Federation, with Mr. Mohammed AlGulaish as president of the Federation. Karate and Judo were separated from the federation to be named officially as the Saudi Judo & Taekwondo Federation in 2000.
The Saudi Judo & Jujitsu Federation is the entity sponsoring the sport of Judo in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Federation is chaired by Mr. Abdulaziz Albassam and recognized by the Ministry of Sport and the Saudi Olympic Committee. The Federation was established in 1976 along with Taekwondo and Karate under the same organization. In 2000, it became separate and independent.
Fencing is one of the first Olympic sports and includes three different weapons; each weapon has its own tools and arbitration rules. Fencing is one of the oldest sports in the Kingdom and has been practiced by a great number of the Royal Family members. Jeddah is the first region to practice this ancient sport almost 65 years ago in schools.
Established in 1990, the Saudi Equestrian & Archery Federation was the sole organization governing the official activities of competitive equestrians in Saudi Arabia, as recognized by the Ministry of Sport and the NOC. In 2016, the name of the federation was changed to “The Saudi Equestrian Federation”.
Established in 1973, the Saudi Swimming Federation is the only official organization governing the sports of swimming in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and takes the responsibility of organizing swimming competitions within the national level. The federation is chaired by Mr. Ahmed Alqadamani. The Saudi Swimming Federation is considered as one of the distinguishing federations with its rich record of achievements and contributions made to the development of the society.
The Saudi Table Tennis Federation was established in 1965 under the name of the Saudi Arabian Table Tennis Committee. In 1979, the name was changed into the Saudi Tennis & Table Tennis Federation to take over all official activities of Tennis and Table Tennis. In 1993, the two sports separated to establish two independent federations.
The Saudi Karate Federation is the official organization governing the sport of Karate in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, chaired by Mr. Mishref Alshehri and supervised by the Ministry of Sport. The Federation was established in 1975. The federation is an active member in the International Karate Federation, the Asian Karate Federation, the Japanese Karate Association, and The Arabian Karate Federation.
The Federation seeks to spread winter sports in Saudi Arabia by developing the performance of the practitioners of these sports and to make Kingdom an ideal regional attraction for winter sports and represent the Kingdom in international events. The Federation is headed by Professor Ahmed bin Shahir Al-Tabaa. The Federation was named the "Saudi Winter Sports Federation" until divided into two independent entities as the following: 1- The Saudi Snow Sports Federation 2- The Saudi Ice Sports Federation
The Saudi Rowing Federation is the sole national federation and the official governing body for the sport of rowing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In 2017, rowing became an independent federation separate from the Water Sports Federation in the Kingdom, establishing itself as an autonomous entity.
